celebrate

i celebrated my fourth mother's day.
oh, how fast time has gone by.
oh, how motherhood has molded and shaped me in so many ways;
in more ways than i ever expected or imagined.

yes, some days are longer than others.
some days i can barely hurdle all the
obstacles thrown at me.
some days i'm on survival mode.

but most days i am content and delighted
with where i am in life.
with these two little boys in my life,
who have made me into the woman i am today.

they are constantly teaching me about unconditional love-
loving me and each other, forgiving and not keeping a record of wrong.

teaching me about patience- and proving to me everyday that
i am NOT the patient person that i always thought i was.

their attention to the smallest details-
like the single ant crawling on the ground
or the different shapes they can find from gazing at the clouds,
makes me smile. and makes me remember to slow down,
so that i can appreciate the little things in my life.

their zest and zeal for life, their curiousity, (oh yes, their curiosity)
for everything new and old, big or small, clean or unclean,
compels me to live in the moment.
something i fail to remember to do at times,
because i'm too caught up in the
petty, meaningless things in life,
that don't really matter.

without them my life would be
empty, unfulfilled, and lonely.
i am learning everyday what it means to live for someone else,
besides my selfish self.

so here's to celebrating motherhood.
embracing the purity in all things seen through their eyes.
and to the four of us,
the posse that i have been completely blessed with.
