third person thursday

what started off as a routine trip to the park with her boys,
ended up as a surprise extreme workout.

she does not know what possessed her to go for a run,
while her boys were delightfully climbing and sliding.
(accompanied by her mister, of course)

she stretched her legs,
her legs that have not been stretched, in god knows how long,
and proceeded to put one foot in front of another..
pacing herself and feeling how out of shape she was.

to her surprise she wasn't huffing and puffing,
or about to have a heart attack as
her heart was racing so fast.

no, she stayed at a steady pace and thought to herself,
hey, maybe,
just maybe i might be able to make it around one more time..
and maybe another.

and she did.
she pushed herself and didn't give up,
even though her body and all that extra junk on her was jiggling up and down,
begging for mercy.

she felt good.
she stood taller.
is she sore?
h-e-double hockey sticks yes,
but the endorphins are kicking in and she is thinking to herself,
hey, maybe,
just maybe i might be able to do this again another time.
and hopefully another time after that and after that.
